Old town and drive home

Friday evening we headed down to Old Town to eat some Mexican at Fred's.

Then Angie, the pied-piper, danced the kids out of the restaurant and up the hill to the Mormon Battalion building where we followed the story of our great, great, great (did I get enough?) grandfather, Zemira Palmer and panned for gold.

Saturday morning we packed up and headed home. I was a little surprised when I saw the map as we were planning this trip to find out that San Diego is closer to Austin than Las Vegas.

Long vacation and traveling hours in a car will do weird things to you.

Jamie decided to change things up on our second day of driving home and detoured through Fredericksburg, a quaint German farming town in Texas. It was fun driving down mainstreet and we didn't stop long, just a potty break at this park area. We crossed the park to get to the bathroom and just a few feet away from the bathroom behind the police building we turn around to find Andrew with his pants down relieving himself on a tree. There's always a great danger in pulling off the side of the road in the middle of nowhere for emergencies on these trips, it always comes back to bite me. Boys, with great power comes great responsibility.

The german settlers making a peace treaty with the Indians- "You give us smoke, we give you beer."
